Now, you have the opportunity to invest in Monfortino's brilliant little brother, which, like its big brother, Monfortino, has great potential, high scores, but an even more limited production. Read on to learn more about Barolo king Giacomo Conterno's other gem, Giacomo Conterno Barolo Cerretta.

”The Cerretta is positively stellar”

Giacomo Conterno Guarantees Quality

In 1974, Giacomo Conterno acquired his first vineyard, Cascina Franca in Serralunga d'Alba. This is where Monfortino is produced from selected grapes of the best vintages. Conterno does not compromise on quality, and for a long time they were looking for new vineyards to practice their wine magic.

Cerretta - A New Legend In Barolo

In 2008, a part of the top vineyard Cerretta came up for sale. Roberto Conterno was quick to acquire three hectares, because he spotted great potential. The Ceretta vineyard has always had a good reputation, but it has only gotten better since Conterno arrived. Exactly the same good synergy as we know from Burgundy, when one of the best domains makes its entrance on one of the best vineyards.

Only The Best Is Good Enough

In the first two years, Roberto Conterno chose to declassify the grapes, and it was not until 2010 that the quality lived up to what he wanted. Roberto only bottles the wines when he feels the balance is right. This is perhaps why the Cerretta wine has received impressive points from the leading critics since the first vintage (2010). Now, it is the 2015 vintage, and it has even received 96 points from both Wine Advocate and Vinous.

Only 4,000 Bottles Per Vintage

Monfortino has positioned itself on the top of the Barolo podium. Carretta has placed himself on the second highest position, limited only by the fact that Monfortino fills the space above. However, the production of Cerretta is considerably more limited. Cerratta is in fact a single-plot-vineyard wine, produced in only 4,000 bottles per vintage.

You already have mythical Monfortino in your portfolio. Here is the little brother that is getting a lot of recognition. Here is the little brother in extremely limited production. Here is the little brother at a fraction of the big brother's price, and we see great future potential, simply because it seems too cheap.

Hyped Brand Boosts Demand

There is absolutely no doubt that Giacomo Conterno has gained worldwide fame due to the quality of their Monfortino. This fame will automatically set the reticle on other wines from the same producer, making Cerretta even more interesting. Especially because its quality is already supported by great scores.
