The essence of this investment tip is not whether you believe in the potential of one of the world's best winemakers or not. The essence is that it is now that the opportunity exists. Whether there will ever be an opportunity to invest in 2005 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti in whole cases and perfect condition is not guaranteed.

Read more below and become wiser about the historical returns, the quality in the year 2005, the life cycle and not least the potential.

Domaine De La Romanée-Conti: Mythical Producer Has Many Names

At first glance, it should be easy to portray the world's probably most legendary winemaker, but in fact few words are sufficiently complete. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti has long since cemented their position at the top of Burgundy, which is reflected in both gigantic demand and prices that make the bottles extremely exclusive and for many completely unattainable.

"DRC", "Conti", "The Domaine": The nicknames are one thing, the adjectives something else. If Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is to be described, it is not unusual for adjectives such as legendary, mythical, powerful, extravagant, superior and perfect to be used. Deservedly.

Domanie de la Romanée-Conti creates wines to perfection and the demand for the drops of the legend is inexhaustible.

Grand Cru For Investment

The best winemakers can, of course, create wine magic everywhere, although the vineyards are of paramount importance. Therefore, it is fortunate for both wine lovers and wine connoisseurs that Domaine de la Romanée-Conti operates on some of the world's very best Grand Cru vineyards.

Match made in Burgundy-Heaven, if you will.

In this investment tip, there is exclusively Grand Cru on the menu - all from the 2005 vintage, which according to wine-searcher.com in Burgundy "was simply superb" ended with: "Overall, the 2005 Burgundy vintage was outstanding".

You now have the opportunity to invest in Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s Romanée-Conti, Echézeaux, Grands Echézeaux and Romanée Saint Vivant from the 2005 vintage. Including a review of the wines. See prices and more details at the bottom of this page.

Romanée-Conti: Both Supernatural And Rare

With 5,489 bottles produced in the 2005 vintage, Romanée-Conti from the DRC is already rare upon release. The vineyard has gained star status, as the wine from here always receives towering scores from the world's most prominent wine critics, and it is (of course) no exception with this one from 2005. Romanée-Conti is simply the holy grail of the wine world.

This one gets 99+ points from Burghound, 99-100 points from Wine Advocate and 100 points from Vinous, giving it an average score of 99.5. Since 2005, this score is only marginally surpassed by vintage 2019 (99.7), which is already a legendary vintage in Burgundy, making 2005 one of the best ever. If we disregard recent times, we must go back to 1985 or 1945 to reach this level of quality.

Comparing historical data from both Liv-ex and wine-searcher.com, the price of 2005 Romanée-Conti has risen by an average of 52% over the past five years. If it is compared with the average* across the last 10 vintages (2005-2014), which has been on the market for a minimum of five years, this is actually low, as the average* for all 10 vintages is 90%. The most comparable vintage to the 2005 among these (2010) has in the same period experienced a price increase of 97%.

With such high quality and that it is only now entering its optimal drinking window and at the same time has an extremely long life ahead of it, 2005 Romanée-Conti seems like an attractive option as the figures suggest that here lies a strong untapped potential, compared with the other vintages.

Add to this that since April 2021, the 2005 DRC Romanée-Conti has increased 16.6% under the administration of RareWine Invest.

2005 Romanée-Conti is approaching perfection, and with a drinking window between 2020-2070 (Vinous), the wine investor can make sure that there are also Romanée-Conti for the connoisseurs of the future.

2005 Echézeaux Has Not Yet Met Its Superior

From Echézeaux, DRC produced 16,313 bottles in the 2005 vintage. This is, of course, significantly more than from Romanée-Conti, but still a minimal production that does not meet demand.

The 2005 Echézeaux gets 94 points from Vinous, 94-95 points from Wine Advocate and 94 points from Burghound. This gives an average score of 94.2 and it has not been surpassed since. The only vintage that comes close is the great vintage 2019 with 94 points.

Comparing historical data from both Liv-ex and wine-searcher.com, the last 10 vintages (2005-2014) of Echézeaux, which has been on the market for a minimum of five years, have yielded an average return of 205% or 25.1 % in average annual return.

The 2005 vintage is thus the vintage in this field that has given the highest return, which is not so surprising, since it is the one that has been on the market for the longest time. On the other hand, it is not as far in its life cycle* as some of the weaker vintages, and while it has already seen great price increases, one can only guess how high the price can be with so many years behind and so many years ahead itself in perfectly mature condition, with status as the largest Echézeaux to date.

*According to Vinous, the drinking window on this is from 2018-2045

2005 Grands Echézeaux: A Hair From First Place In Recent Times

At Grands Exhézeaux, the DRC has 3.5 hectares planted with 60-year-old vines, from which they produced 11,800 bottles in 2005, which is below the average for their production here. 2005 Grands Echézeaux receives 97 Vinous points, 95-96 points from Wine Advocate and 96 points from Burgundy expert Burghound. This gives an average score of 96.2, which is only surpassed by vintage 2019 (96.3) in recent times*. According to Vinous, the drinking window on this is also from 2020-2050.

Comparing historical data from both Liv-ex and wine-searcher.com, the last 10 vintages (2005-2014) of Grands Echézeaux, which has been on the market for a minimum of five years, have yielded an average return of 217% or 26% in average annual return.

Here, the story is therefore the same as with Echézeaux, and it's about whether you are interested in paying a little extra for a slightly higher average score compared to Echézeaux - the potential is not to be overlooked, whether you look in one or the other direction.

* The 1962 vintage (97.5 points) and 1948 (96.2 points) also surpass 2005, although the assessment is only based on ratings from Vinous and Burghound.

2005 Romanée Saint Vivant Impresses Burghound

The DRC produced 17,392 bottles in the 2005 vintage, and it gets 96.2 points across critics (BH: 97, WA: 96-97, VI: 95) and thus surpassed only the 2019 vintage (97.3). Even the fabulous 1966 vintage has scored marginally weaker with 96 points on average. Here it is interesting that Burghound, which is the big Burgundy specialist, awards 97 points, which is also the case with the 2019 vintage. According to Vinous, the drinking window on this one is open from 2020 to 2055 as well.

Comparing historical data from both Liv-ex and wine-searcher.com, the last 10 vintages of Romanée Saint Vivant, which has been on the market for a minimum of five years, have yielded an average return of 196% or 24.3% on average. annual return. Thus, these are the same mechanisms that apply to both Grands Echézeaux and Echézeaux.

Do Prices Continue To Rise For Burgundy's Most Expensive Domain?

The prices of all the above wines have also risen in the past year, which is in line with the price trends that the wine exchange Liv-ex also reports on. At the end of 2021, the rising wine prices were reported here - both at the DRC, but also in Burgundy in general: "The rarity that drives both would only seem to be enhanced by news of" historically low "yields in 2021."

The Burgundy wines of the future thus do not seem to be less rare when it comes to supply. And when it comes to DRC, there is no such thing as "buying cheap". In this perspective, however, it is important to mention that it is now many years since the industry first said that the highest prices had been reached… .. It has been said since and reason has been put to shame again and again and it has probably not happened last time, the historical returns taken into account.

Furthermore, it is important to point out that wine investment through RareWine Invest must continue to be considered a long-term investment, which is why the above massive annual returns should not be seen as a rule, but an expression that these are extraordinary wines, in an extraordinary time.

RareWine Invest’s Opinion

It is not without reason that one is seduced by the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, which repeatedly takes the wine world by storm. In this case, we are even dealing with a fantastic Burgundy vintage, whose DRC wines are among the best. Stunning returns cement demand and there is not enough for everyone.

Historically, prices have risen - even for the world's most expensive wines. Therefore, this is not so much a question of whether the demand for perhaps the world's best producer continues to rise. It is a question of how long it is at all possible to get your fingers in 2005 wines from the DRC. And as you know, supply and demand dictate price.

Add to this the fact that the drinking window on these has been open for many, many years, which is why this is an optimal opportunity to join at an attractive time.

The hype is huge. The drinking window is the same - and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is only for the few.
