For Investors Only: 2023 Parcels From Domaine Pierre Girardin
As an investor, you now have the opportunity to invest en primeur in Domaine Pierre Girardin - one of the future giants of Burgundy.
Pierre Girardin is at the forefront of a new generation of exceptional Burgundian winemakers who are making a name for themselves on the global stage while laying a solid foundation for future greatness. This applies both to these young winemakers individually and to the region as a whole.
Girardin has access to some of Burgundy’s most iconic vineyards, particularly excels in white wine, and has developed a unique style that has positioned him as one of Burgundy’s brightest rising stars.
We have followed this young talent since before the global wine scene turned its spotlight on his domaine. This gives you a unique opportunity to invest in this case with wines sourced directly from Girardin’s own cellar.

Domaine Pierre Girardin: A Clear Mission
In 2017, at just 18 years old, Pierre Girardin officially established his own domaine in Meursault. However, the Girardin name is far from new to the region. Pierre’s father, Vincent Girardin, was a 12th-generation winemaker. In 2011, Vincent sold most of the family's vineyards to pursue new challenges but retained 4.5 hectares in Pommard, Volnay, and Meursault - leaving the door open in case his son would one day follow in his footsteps. And he did.
Pierre carved his own path, implementing biodynamic principles (similar to those practiced by Leflaive and Leroy), cultivating his terroirs with knowledge and respect, and developing a distinctive style that is entirely his own. His vision for his domaine is crystal clear. His perfectionism is unwavering, and his belief in his own philosophy has solidified his place among Burgundy’s top producers.
Clarification: To avoid confusion—Pierre’s full name is Pierre-Vincent Girardin, but we omit "Vincent" to distinguish him from his father. His domaine is officially called Domaine Pierre Girardin - without "Vincent."

"Girardin has hit the ground running with an impressively wide portfolio that includes iconic appellations such as even Montrachet and Chambertin, and he has equally rapidly found eager international representation with top importers."

Access To The Finest Vineyards
Domaine Girardin produces outstanding wine. But most notably, Domaine Girardin excels in white wine, and if you’ve followed us, you’ll know that we have high expectations for white Burgundy in the future.
France is one of the world’s largest wine-producing countries, accounting for approximately 18% of global wine production in 2023. However, only about 3% of all French wine comes from Burgundy, and Burgundy represents less than 0.5% of global wine production.
At RareWine Invest, we narrow the field even further, focusing primarily on two of Burgundy’s six sub-regions—Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, collectively known as Côte d’Or. And since this case focuses on white Burgundy, Côte de Beaune is nearly the only relevant area, accounting for less than 28% of Burgundy’s total vineyard area planted with white grape varieties.
This is why white Burgundy is so scarce. But when we talk about the world’s best white wines, they come from here.
As mentioned, Pierre Girardin owns 4.5 hectares in Pommard, Volnay, and Meursault. However, he has also secured long-term contracts with some of Burgundy’s top growers, ensuring direct access to parcels or fruit from prestigious vineyards. And when Girardin does not personally manage the vineyards, the growers must share his meticulous winemaking philosophy.
Thanks to these agreements, Girardin now produces wines from some of Burgundy’s most coveted sites, including Le Montrachet, Chambertin, Chevalier-Montrachet, Clos de Vougeot, Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault Les Perrières, Bâtard-Montrachet, and many more - all of exceptional quality but in extremely limited quantities.
"It’s time to enjoy Pierre Girardin’s exceptional wines while they are still within reach. In the future, prices will look entirely different."
- Rasmus Nielsen, Founder, RareWine
Forget The 2024 Vintage: Why 2023 Is So Exciting
The French Ministry of Agriculture, Agreste, estimates that France’s 2024 wine harvest will decline by 16-18% compared to 2023. Zooming in on Côte d’Or, the drop is expected to be closer to 25%, and in some of the most prestigious areas, reductions appear even more drastic.
During our visit to Burgundy in autumn 2024, following the harvest, the outlook was bleak. We witnessed vineyards underwater - something we had never seen before. Conversations with various producers, including Girardin, confirmed the same story: The 2024 harvest was almost nonexistent in these areas, reinforcing expectations that 2024 will be one of the smallest vintages in a century.
From an investment perspective, this makes the 2023 vintage even more attractive.
2023 was already shaping up to be a strong vintage, and now, with a drastically reduced 2024 harvest, it will remain the “current” vintage for an extended period. The market is losing a significant amount of wine, and there is only so much 2023 available to bridge that gap. We expect Girardin to hold back some of his 2023 stock to supplement the limited 2024 release.
"So, how are the wines? […] There’s plenty to be impressed by."

No Scores, By Choice
Pierre Girardin is, in many ways, his own person, and that is undoubtedly one of the reasons he has reached where he is today. However, one of the more striking aspects of his approach is that he declines to have his wines scored by major critics.
The reasoning behind this (partly our own analysis and partly Pierre’s own words) is that his wine remains the same whether it receives 92 or 98 points. He already sells his wines with remarkable ease and belongs to a generation that dares to deviate from the norm.
There is no indication that he holds any grudge against critics or fails to recognize their legitimacy. This is simply his way of doing things.
Invest in top wines from Domaine Pierre Girardin
The 2023 vintage is not yet physically available and is therefore being traded in advance as "en primeur." Due to our direct collaboration with Domaine Pierre Girardin, you now have the opportunity to invest in parcels of top-tier wines, primarily white, from Pierre Girardin, specifically from the 2023 vintage.
Quantities are extremely limited, and this direct allocation ensures exceptionally attractive prices.
Over the past five years, prices across all Domaine Pierre Girardin wines have roughly doubled. This is partly due to the domaine significantly increasing its prices year after year, but also because supply is so scarce that the available quantities in the open market are continuously being bid up by those who have already recognized Girardin’s potential.
The parcel consists of 23 bottles, costs €7,110, and includes the following wines:
2023 Domaine Pierre Girardin Montrachet Grand Cru
1 bottle
OC1 – 0.75L
Price: €950*
Looking at the impressive list of Girardin's wines, it is difficult to pinpoint a single flagship wine. However, with Le Montrachet’s status as one of the absolute finest white wine vineyards in the world, this bottle certainly stands as a contender.
Pierre Girardin produces approximately 1,200 standard bottles per year of this wine.
The 2022 vintage is listed on wine-searcher.com. The lowest price is €1,291. The lowest price for the 2021 vintage is €1,771.
2023 Pierre Girardin Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, regular + magnum
3 bottles
OC3 – 0.75L
Price: €550 per bottle*
1 bottle
OC1 – 1.5L
Price: €1,150*
Bâtard-Montrachet is one of the little brothers of Le Montrachet, but still one of Burgundy’s great Grand Crus, where names like Leflaive, Ramonet, and Bachelet also operate. Despite being in the shadow of Le Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet is among the world’s finest white wines.
According to wine-searcher.com, the lowest current price for the 2022 Girardin Bâtard-Montrachet is €620*, while a magnum from the same vintage costs €1,625*.
2023 Pierre Girardin Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru La Croix
6 bottles
OC6 – 0.75L
Price: €295 per bottle*
When discussing the world’s best white wines, it is impossible to overlook Corton-Charlemagne. This is no surprise when producers such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Coche-Dury, Bonneau du Martray, and Bouchard cultivate vineyards here side by side.
Girardin produces an interpretation of Corton-Charlemagne based on fruit from his own vineyard holdings as well as purchased grapes from other parcels.
As with the other wines, the 2023 vintage of this wine is not yet available on wine-searcher.com, but the lowest price for the 2022 vintage is €299*, while the average listing price is €426*.
2023 Pierre Girardin Chassagne-Montrachet Clos de La Maltroie Premier Cru
6 bottles
OC6 – 0.75L
Price: €95 per bottle*
A beautiful white Premier Cru. Simply fantastic if you are considering adding Chassagne to your collection at some point.
With the exception of a single retailer in Monaco who has listed a single bottle of the 2023 vintage at €105*, the 2023 vintage is also unavailable on wine-searcher. A full case of the 2022 vintage (the only available listing) is priced at €236*.
2023 Pierre Girardin Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots Premier Cru
6 bottles
OC6 – 0.75L
Price: €170 per bottle*
The only red wine in the parcel. And while the above has focused heavily on white wines, this does not mean the potential of the reds should be ignored or underestimated. The Les Suchots cuvée comes from Vosne-Romanée, the birthplace of some of the absolute finest red wines in the world, and Pierre Girardin’s humble and meticulous approach does justice to this Premier Cru.
Even though this is “only” a Premier Cru, Burghound rated the 2019 vintage (92 points), stating that it should not be opened until 2031. The 2023 vintage thus has a long life ahead.
RareWine Invest's Opinion
This case deviates from our usual data-driven investment methodology, which primarily focuses on prestigious wines from renowned producers with confirmed investment potential.
However, when we do diverge from this approach, another criterion must be met - the degree of future potential. While the wine world, and particularly Burgundy, is largely dominated by historic producers with generations of tradition, new profiles occasionally emerge. And for those seeking strong return potential and aiming to stay ahead of the curve, these are the producers to watch.
The young Pierre Girardin is one of these rising profiles, and although he may be categorized as a "new" producer, his caliber is already confirmed.
We have followed him closely since he officially established his domaine, and we are long past the point of questioning whether he will succeed.
It is also rare to invest in wines with so little coverage from major critics, but make no mistake - Pierre Girardin is already producing world-class wines. If you encountered us around 2020, you may have tasted his entry-level white wines, which for a period were our house wines, and like us, you were probably blown away.
This is an attractive opportunity for an en primeur investment in wines from one of Meursault’s most promising stars, who already rival some of Burgundy’s greatest and most established names.
Domaine Pierre Girardin has a bright future ahead, and you can be part of it.
Girardin has set his course, and the foundation is strong. It will be an exciting journey.
