Investment in 2020 d’Auvenay: Only 1,000 bottles produced
Position yourself while Lalou is still personally involved
The wine market is showing signs of stabilization, which only makes this investment opportunity even more attractive.
You can now secure a position in a young Leroy release at a favorable price. We have secured a microscopic allocation of the 2020 d’Auvenay Bourgogne Aligoté Sous Chatelet.
A release of only 1,000 bottles, personally shaped by the now 94-year-old Lalou herself. One day, that will no longer be the case – and then the question won’t be whether they become unobtainable, but at what price.
Liv-ex 100’s bid:offer ratio reaches highest level since 2022
In just one month, the Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 Index bid:offer ratio has increased from 0.87 to 1.1 — the highest level since October 2022. This rise is driven by increased buying interest. And while such measurements can be volatile, overall demand on Liv-ex has been trending upward since July 2025.
If we isolate the Italy 100, the bid:offer ratio has increased from 0.70 to 0.78 over the past year. There are thus small, yet consistent signs of market improvement.

Lalou Bize-Leroy makes wines for eternity…
Lalou Bize-Leroy is a living legend in Burgundy. A uncompromising figure who has not only raised the bar in Burgundy, but redefined what great wine can be. She is one of the most influential figures in modern wine history.
But while William Kelley says: “Lalou Bize-Leroy is making wines not for the present, but for eternity,” there will come a day when the now 94-year-old legend steps back. And although Domaine d’Auvenay will undoubtedly strive to maintain her standards, bottles bearing her personal imprint will remain permanently limited.

Understanding d’Auvenay’s Sous Châtelet
Bourgogne Aligoté Sous Châtelet is often described as one of d’Auvenay’s most iconic wines. From a humble 0.33-hectare parcel, Lalou produces only around 1,000 bottles per vintage. The grapes are hand-harvested and biodynamically farmed.
Although the 2020 vintage has not yet received scores from leading critics, there is no doubt about the wine’s legitimacy, status, and reputation. As William Kelley notes: “[It] transcends expectations of this humble variety.”
And Neal Martin adds: “Even the ludicrously priced Bourgogne Aligoté can prompt superlatives usually reserved for a premier cru.”

RareWine Invest perspective
When it comes to Lalou Bize-Leroy, scores are redundant. Her reputation has transcended the relevance of external ratings. Her wines are reserved for the few.
As Neal Martin stated in 2023:
“Someone out there is prepared to pay that amount of money for this wine, motivated by the fact that it was crafted by Lalou Bize-Leroy.”
At the same time, we are facing a reality where Lalou Bize-Leroy’s production is inevitably approaching its final chapter. This creates a structural scarcity that the market has not yet fully priced in.
The asking prices of older vintages on Wine-Searcher demonstrate value appreciation over time — further supporting the investment case.
We have secured 24 bottles for investment, and as always, allocation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
