The Starting Whistle Has Been Blown: Join Before 2013 Cristal Rosé Takes Off

The 2013 Cristal Rosé has just taken off, and once it starts to accelerate, it is likely to follow its equal predecessors, which have given great returns.

Here is your unique opportunity to be involved from the beginning. Is it an opportunity you dare to let pass? Find out what is so special about Cristal Rosé, and why you should join in below.

Louis Roederer's Most Limited But Best Cuvée

There is no doubt that the best Champagnes in the world are suitable for investment. This is due to quality, demand, and storage potential. This is certainly also the case with Louis Roederer's Cristal, whose iconic gold look is rightfully deserved. Cristal is synonymous with extravagance, but Cristal Rosé takes the extravagance to a whole new level.

The best rosé Champagnes have the same unique qualities as the best Champagnes. Cristal almost always scores high, but in fact, Cristal Rosé outperforms on points: almost time after time.

The table below shows scores across critics* from the last six vintages for Cristal and Cristal Rosé respectively. Cristal is great, but Cristal Rosé is just a little better.

However, what is particularly interesting about the pink bubbles is that the supply is extremely limited.

Cristal Rosé is Louis Roederer's most limited cuvée, and there is uncertainty about how many bottles are actually produced. However, we know that about 400,000 bottles of Cristal are produced in those vintages that are strong enough to qualify for a Cristal.

You Have Probably Heard It Before - But It Is Still True

In 2017, more than 80 % of the world's sparkling wines were white, while only 15 % were rosé. Italy is the largest producer of sparkling wines, which obviously means that French rosé production does not account for large volumes. This obviously does not give a definitive answer as to how large the production of Cristal Rosé is, but it does indicate that it is extremely limited.

Therefore, not many bottles need to be consumed before the global supply of the exclusive, pink bubbles is significantly reduced.

99 Great Points For 2013 Cristal Rosé

Cristal Rosé is described by many as one of the best rosé Champagnes in the world. The table below supports that description, as it is repeatedly awarded exceptionally high scores. The 2013 vintage is certainly no exception.

The Wine Advocate awards the 2013 Cristal Rosé an impressive 99 points, which is only surpassed by the 2008 and 2002, which are great vintages in Champagne. With a score of 98.3 points across the world's top wine critics, it also ranks among the very best, second only to the 2008 vintage.

Of course, it is worth noting that Richard Juhlin (RJ) has not awarded his points yet. If he shares the enthusiasm with his colleagues for Cristal Rosé as usual, the 2013 vintage will retain its place at the top. The table at least illustrates that Juhlin's point allocation rarely deviates much from his colleagues.

Among The World's Best Champagnes

Back in 2020, the wine media Tastingbook published a top-100 of the world's best Champagnes. The list is made by professionals, and therefore, it is relevant in this context. Louis Roederer's Cristal was of course well represented on the list, and the 2008 Cristal Rosé was placed in a great 3rd place.

Comparing the scores of 2008 and 2013, respectively, which is the subject of this article, it can be seen that margins separate them. This shows that this vintage can compete with the very best in the world.

RareWine Invest’s Opinion

If you are looking for a coveted and exceptional product in extremely limited quantities, the rosé Champagne is a prime candidate. Especially considering that the consumption of Champagne and rosè Champagne is gigantic.

High scores place the 2013 Cristal Rosé among the very best in the world, and that in itself is an investment argument that needs no further substantiation. Yet that is the case here. A gigantic demand as well as an extremely limited production is the kind of imbalance that speaks to a wine investor. That is why we recommend the 2013 Cristal Rosé for investment - especially now, when there are still investable quantities to be obtained.

And who knows: Perhaps the total return of +23 % on Cristal Rosé wines under the management of RareWine Invest will increase further when 2013 is added to the team. In any case, we have no hesitation in recommending the freshly released 2013 vintage.

What To Look For When Investing In New Top Vintages

Investing in wine is characterised by long-term solid returns. In addition, wine is not nearly as volatile as, for example, stocks, which can drop and rise in a short period of time. Therefore, you may be surprised that Champagne prices can rise and drop in the same way upon release. However, there is a natural explanation for this.

When a top vintage is released, it comes with gigantic expectations. That means there can be a contest for the available volumes. High demand can lead to rapid price increases, as in some cases, this high price can become the market price.

In other cases, wine merchants or distributors may have bought too much, forcing them to reduce the price. This may be because fewer people have wanted to buy immediately after release or because the Champagne house has released additional quantities.

When releasing top vintages, it is therefore a question of deciding how long you dare to wait before making a purchase. Here, you can be there from the beginning and be assured of investment-friendly quantities. Of course, there is a risk of price fluctuations in the short term, but this product has enormous potential in the long term.
