News: 2022 Tignanello for Investment

+12% average annual return across ten vintages…

The latest vintage of the Super Tuscan and iconic Tignanello has arrived, and this is your chance to get in early on a promising investment case.

Tignanello comes with a strong pricing history. The Italian super brand is also supported by a healthy buyer’s market balance, strong demand, and a favorable price point.

Tignanello | Italian Icon

Marchesi Antinori is more than just a winery – it’s a living tale of Italian heritage, innovation, and winemaking finesse that spans more than 600 years. Since 1385, the Antinori family has been a cornerstone of the Tuscan wine landscape, and with 26 generations behind it, it's one of the world’s oldest family-owned wine producers. Despite deep roots in tradition, the family has never allowed itself to be confined by the past – on the contrary, curiosity, courage, and creativity have always shaped their approach to wine.

A shining symbol of this philosophy is Tignanello – the wine that truly placed Antinori on the modern wine map and redefined what Italian wine could be. When Piero Antinori launched the first vintage in 1971, it came with bold deviations from the established Chianti tradition: malolactic fermentation, aging in small French barrels, and the use of international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Tignanello didn’t just break the rules – it created a new category: Super Tuscan. Since then, the wine has become an icon, and Antinori has carried the legacy forward through sustainable viticulture, robotic technology in the vineyards, and continuous innovation in the cellars.

Today, Marchesi Antinori is not just a wine producer but an institution – where every bottle tells a story of passion, culture, and the ability to evolve without losing its soul. Tignanello remains the house's flagship – not just as a wine, but as an idea: an uncompromising pursuit of quality driven by courage and vision.

Some Wines Maintain a Healthy Balance

We are still in a buyer’s market, and in April, Liv-ex assessed where demand lies – and which wines maintain a healthy balance despite the market situation.

On this list, you’ll find Tignanello, along with Masseto, Soldera, Salon, and Le Pin – precisely because the price-to-quality ratio remains reasonable.

Healthy Balance and Historical Performance

Despite a healthy balance, Tignanello has historically performed well. According to Liv-ex, the past ten vintages* of Tignanello that have been on the market for at least five years have yielded a 74.9% return over the past five years – which equates to an average annual return of 12%.

The World Wants Tignanello

Wine-searcher processes more than 650,000 searches daily. They also track search frequency for over 800,000 wines, giving them a unique opportunity to analyze and observe market trends. Last month, Tignanello was the 21st most searched wine on wine-searcher.com.

Add to that...

… that Tignanello ranked 39th on the 2024 Power 100 list – a ranking of wines measured by brand value, trade value, and trade volume. Tignanello is therefore among the top 100 most desirable wines in the world.

RareWine Invest’s Opinion

Tignanello is one of Italy’s most iconic wines – a wine with built-in demand, a wine with historically strong performance, a healthy balance in a challenged market, and currently a particularly attractive price point for investment.

Around 300,000 bottles of Tignanello are produced per vintage, and while that sounds like a lot, its price-to-quality ratio makes it a popular choice for consumption. Its drinking window is estimated at 2027–2039.
